As a kid my family and I moved West from Beaverton, Oregon and the 90′ CuldeSac at Progress Downs in search of a better life. We found that life at 22950 NW Dogwood in the old town of Orenco, Oregon. On 5 acres of the old Orenco Townsite, a 1909 platted Nursery town, we carved out a life for ourselves that one would have to say was idyllic for the most part. The stories and people that we all came to know will come out through this site and the writing here. Many of you reading this know much of the history of the area. Most of you surely do not. It is for all of you that I have decided to write about it; it is for me that I plan to keep the stories and memories alive to add some context to what has now become the economic super engine of the State of Oregon. Never would I have imagined what was going to happen here. But it has and we are proud to have been here to see it all unwind.
Below you will find the Video we helped shoot a year ago when the Platform District began to go up at the Orenco Max Station. The video shows the Intel Ronler Acres Campus and the D1X construction as well as the now famous Orenco Station Community, the surrounding houses and apartments, the Hillsboro Stadium, and a WHOLE LOT of growth. You will also see the Max Station snaking it’s way through the video marking a clear line between Old and New Orenco where the Future and The Past are crashing into each other. Will it be cohesive? Can the Old way exist and thrive with the new? Hard to say but together we are all about to find out.
Thank you for reading my blog – I hope I can educate and inform and bring people together in what many of us believe to be the best kept secret in the West.
